I hope you're all enjoying the warmer weather and gearing up for summer fun! This month, I'd like to discuss concentrating on your strategy refocus your business.
I have truly been in awe watching our local businesses adjust to meet the changing needs of their customers and COVID-19 restrictions. Whether it was standing up an online interface or finding ways to bring their products directly to customers, the creativity and innovations have been wide ranging.
As we begin to reopen across the country, it's important to ask yourself the following questions:
Are you on track with the goals you set for your business?
If not, where do you want your business to be?
What are your goals for the future?
Who is your main customer base?
How have their needs changed?
Are you making adjustments to meet those changes?
Do you have an unmet need in your personal life that your business could be tackling?
These questions can seem overwhelming, but they are so important to finding your way forward. A recent article I came across in the Harvard Business Review (article here: https://hbr.org/2020/06/how-to-re-engineer-your-business-for-safety) touches on similar ideas, with a focus on process re-engineering. I've watched as our own long-serving and new local businesses took on similar changes in their business models. Some of the most fascinating changes have been watching retail establishments set up virtual shopping experiences through video conference appointments and sharing products daily on social media. Finding new ways to reach the customers you already serve just may provide you with a way to reach previously untapped customers.
